Signature Series
Signature Series is focused on bringing national and international touring artists to Kittery. While The Dance Hall supports local and touring artists regularly, “Signature Series” performances present in-demand artists who have more established and widely regarded reputations. Not only do these performances offer cultural enrichment to the community of Kittery, they elevate all artists on the schedule.
Signature Series artists/events include: Marc Ribot, Paolo Angeli, Glen David Andrews, Alasdair Fraser + Natalie Haas, BALA BILA, Boston Dance Theater, Percussive Dance Fest, SOME Fest.
Folkwaves
Foreside Folkwaves is a series dedicated to presenting folk and traditional artists from around the world, preserving and promoting and advancing culture. Folk music is a general term and admittedly casts a wide net. When we refer to folk music, we are often considering the music to be learned through listening and passed down through generations.
Foreside Folkwaves includes but is not limited to bluegrass, old-time, celtic and other global folk traditions.
Foreside Folkwaves artists include: Reverie Road, Väsen, Lena Jonsson, Alasdair Fraser, Natalie Haas, Hanneke Cassel, John Doyle, Mick McAuley, Jake Blount, Allison Degroot, Nic Garreis, North Sea Gas, Keith Murphy, Pine Tree Flyers, Hildaland, Old Hat Stringband, The Mountain.
Jazz Casual
Jazz Casual is dedicated to the continuation of jazz and improvised music. Showcasing an eclectic array of local, national and international talent, the series supports the advancement of this art form by programming artists who are writing original works and uniquely arranging traditional music in progressive and imaginative ways.
Jazz Casual artists include: Tony Malaby, Christine Correa, Frank Carlberg, Kim Cass, Ben Monder, Jeremy Udden, Alexa Tarantino, Steven Bernstein, Jason Palmer, Chet Doxas, Mike Effenberger, Taylor O’Donnell,Chris Klaxton, Ayan Imai-Hall, Clifford Cameron, Sharon Jenkins Jones, and more.
Discovery Series
Supporting emerging artists, the Discovery Series introduces audiences to talent from around New England. Not far from Portland ME or Boston MA, The Dance Hall is an important stepping stone for artists eager to reach new audiences.
inFocus Film
inFocus Film celebrates independent filmmakers, uplifts creative storytelling and strengthens community through film. This series includes documentaries and feature-length fiction as well as shorts.
Past screenings include: a climate science documentary, cinematic dance films, an indie-feature film about life in Maine, and a documentary about life on a commune in the 1960’s.
