The Marc Chillemi Quintet brings the sound and spirit of 1960s jazz to the stage with a tribute to the legendary Blue Note Records. Led by trumpeter Marc Chillemi (Primo Cubano/Raging Brass), the group celebrates the soulful sound, hard-swinging grooves, and adventurous improvisation that defined an era of modern jazz.
Inspired by the music of iconic Blue Note artists and bandleaders like Horace Silver, Blue Mitchell, Lee Morgan and Art Blakey, the quintet blends tight arrangements with energetic interplay and spontaneous expression. Joining Marc are Jesse Beckett- Herbert (Future Mailmen) on tenor saxophone, Clifford Cameron (Rot on the Vine/Vinyl Quartet) on piano, Duane Edwards (Primo Cubano/Bess Jacques and the Strays) on bass, and veteran drummer Jan van Voorst van Beest (The Fiasco Brothers/Bess Jacques and the Strays).
Following a year-long residency at The Henry in Portland’s Old Port, the band is excited to make its debut at The Dance Hall. Whether you’re a lifelong jazz listener or simply curious to experience this timeless music live, expect an evening of rhythm, soul, and the unmistakable Blue Note sound—alive, expressive, and deeply human.
