Tanasi
“...where tradition, travel, and human connection intersect”
— Roots Music Underground
Tanasi is a worldgrass trio rooted in Appalachian string band tradition, moving freely and respectfully through global musical landscapes. Featuring the pioneering slide work of Billy Cardine alongside the luminous, tightly interwoven harmonies of Anya Hinkle on guitar and Mary Lucey on clawhammer banjo and stand-up bass, the trio creates music shaped not by the boundaries of genre but by decades of listening, travel, and shared experience. Live, the result is an adventurous, deeply rooted performance that draws audiences into a true musical conversation.
"I couldn’t have picked a better example than Billy Cardine for what the possibilities are with the Dobro..."
— Jerry Douglas
Members of Tanasi have appeared on some of the world’s most revered stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Ryman Auditorium, and have toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Their individual work has been praised by outlets including No Depression, PopMatters, Americana UK, and NPR-affiliated programs.
As a trio, they have played major festivals including Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Earl Scruggs Music Festival, RockyGrass, Moab Folk Festival, and Richmond Folk Festival, and headlined roots festivals across Scandinavia and Europe. Springtide
Springtide is: Willy Clemetson on fiddle and foot percussion, Elsie Gawler on cello and fiddle, and Ethan Tischler on guitar. We are musicians, songwriters, and central figures in the Mid-Coast Maine fiddling scene. We combine a love of high energy traditional Celtic and Scandinavian fiddle music, heartfelt original tunes and songs, and spacious creative improvisation to produce our unique trio: Springtide. We aim to lift audiences with the music of the landscapes we come from, drawing inspiration from the tidal rhythms and creative energies of the coastal land we’re grateful to call home.
Mr Sun plays Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite
Mr. Sun brings their new interpretation of Ellington's legendary Nutcracker Suite to The Dance Hall.
Mr Sun comprises some of the most original musicians to apply themselves to the American String Band.
Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite contains some of the most beloved and familiar melodies in the Western world. Mr Sun has seized upon the inspiration of Duke Ellington’s brilliant, sly, & urbane re-interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s Suite as an opportunity to salute and re-invent this wildly multi-faceted work anew through the lens of the American String Band, a musical form which contains myriad styles and is presently engaged in a marathon upheaval of innovation and expansion.
Legendary fiddler Darol Anger is at home in a number of musical genres, some of which he helped to invent, and is a member of the original "nuclear" generation of pickers who extended Bluegrass, Jazz, and Classical music to find their common ground; Mr Sun is the latest iteration in that legacy. Joe K. Walsh is one of the foremost contemporary mandolinists, with 4 award-winning years in the Gibson Brothers, 3 solo recordings, and a Berklee professorship. Grant Gordy is a standout in the crowded field of Acoustic Guitar Wunderkinds. Grant's work was quickly recognized for its kaleidoscopic excellence and startling emotion, fusing Jazz, R&B, and Bluegrass concepts to an unprecedented degree. The group recently added the masterful bassist Aidan O'Donnell, a Brooklyn, New York (by way of Scotland) jazz veteran.
The 4 musical personalities of Mr Sun are so strong that one might imagine the group could explode if not for the palpable love and humor that emanate from every note they play together. The group means to take a relaxed approach to writing its own chapter in the American Music Saga.

Dan Blakeslee's Christmasland Jubilee
Dan Blakeslee and the Calabash Club: Christmasland Jubilee
In a rustic one room school house in South Berwick, Maine at the age of five I played sleigh bells alongside my father to The Chipmunks song “Christmas Don’t Be Late”. It has always been one of my favorite childhood memories around the holiday season and I have been an avid Christmas music enthusiast ever since.
In 2006 I started writing Christmas songs for my family as gifts on my meager home recording gear. I’ve been wanting to make a full length studio Christmas record with my band for the past decade. Every December would go by feeling too busy with the hustle and bustle of the holidays to record an album like this. Then five days before Christmas in 2019 I called my studio engineer friend Chris Chase to see if he could get me in to record before December 25th that year. he said yes! So this album was recorded with snow on the ground and the magic of Christmas in the air. I hope this album brings enchantment to your holiday season.
Warm Regards,
Dan Blakeslee

Jason Carter Band
The Dance Hall is honored to feature internationally recognized Jason Carter Band as part of our 2027 Signature Series.
For thirty years, Jason Carter has been the fiddle player for the Del McCoury Band—the most awarded group in bluegrass history. In addition to his long-standing tenure with Del McCoury Band, Carter has won three Grammy awards, including 2018's "Best Bluegrass Album" with the Travelin' McCourys, of which he is a founding member. In addition to the Grammys, he's taken home not one but five IBMAs for "Fiddle Player of the Year”
As a fiddler, Carter has been featured on albums by Steve Earle, Ricky Skaggs, Dierks Bentley, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Asleep at the Wheel, and many more, all in addition to his tireless touring and recording with Del as well as the Travelin' McCourys. On Carter's forthcoming solo album, Lowdown Hoedown, listeners may recognize instrumental contributions from such legends as Jerry Douglas or Sam Bush alongside vocals from young trailblazers like Sarah Jarosz or Billy Strings, and fellow IBMA-winning and Grammy-winning fiddle player Bronwyn Keith-Hynes.
“The bluegrass fans, they're pretty loyal,” he [Carter] says, noting that he’s found a similar kinship sharing stages with jam bands like Phish and Leftover Salmon, too. “They stick behind you, they're there for you.” Carter mirrors that loyalty with his own—loyalty to his craft, loyalty to the road, and loyalty to the career path he’s dreamt of since childhood.
